Breathing Mushrooms

This pice represents the role that fungi play in recycling nutrients and the co2 from the breath going back into the carbon cycle. The mushroom growing from the mouth offers a powerful, visceral interpretation of a body composting, uniting the natural and human. By growing live fungi the sculpture is a collaboration with nature and also represents the autonomy of the natural world.
